We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company (minimum 3 to 5 business days upon receipt of returned items) to process and post the refund too. Please note that discount codes cannot be applied retroactively to prior orders per our store policy.
Please note, that for orders where Michigan Fine Yarns covered the cost of shipping, the shipping cost will be deducted from the order total before the refund is issued. All other orders under the $100 minimum that qualifies for free shipping, will be covered by the customer.
We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return. However, please note that we are only accepting returns of yarn if it is in pristine condition and bagged. All returned yarns will be kept separate from other inventory for a minimum of 3 days before being returned to the shelves. We will not be taking returns of notions, needles, books, or kits unless the item is defective upon receipt.
With regards to cancellations of pre-ordered items, we allow a 7-day window from the time the order was placed to qualify for cancellation. You will receive a refund for the original payment method where possible.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase in order to process a return. In-store returns can also be eligible for store credit if a customer does not have a receipt at the point of return.
To start a return, you can contact us at email@example.com. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
Michigan Fine Yarns will pay for return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (shipping you an incorrect or defective item).

Sales or Promotions
Regularly priced items that are on sale are eligible for a return within our 30-day window as long as they do not meet any of the criteria of our non-returnable items or exceptions. Please note, that discontinued products including yarns or discontinued variants of fibers will not qualify for a return even during a promotional period. Any discontinued items or closeout products will be considered final sale once the order is placed.
It’s common practice in the industry for suppliers to stop producing and selling particular shades of yarn, or make an announcement that particular tools or accessories are no longer going to be produced. Such items will be considered final sale at our store and will not be eligible for a return.
Each season the store regularly does a cleanse of inventory that it will no longer be carrying into the future. These yarns, tools, and accessories can include but are not limited to discontinued products. You'll note such items on "Clearance" or being sold in closeout sales. These are all considered final sales and do not qualify for a return or refund.
Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you received the wrong item so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain types of items cannot be returned such as classes, notions, needles, books, project bags, downloadable patterns, PDFs, and opened kits, closeout and clearance items as well as damaged or used goods. Yarns left over as extra or unused from within kit purchases will not qualify for a refund or return. Discontinued yarns are also final sales and will not qualify.
We will only accept returns on yarns that are packaged in their original state and have not been used in any way. All returned yarns will be set aside from the in-store inventory for a minimum of 3 days before being placed on the shelves. Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards. This includes discontinued or closeout yarns which are final sale items only.
