Join the slow fashion, handmade, maker movement by learning to knit in our Fiber Academy: Knitting 101 Camp. In this 2.5-hour workshop, we'll teach you how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off, introduce you to knitting in the round, and help you plan your first project! Our goal is to have you leave with the confidence to tackle that first project, and if you need additional project support, you can always come back again for Quick Help or in a Bring Your Own Project class! MFY Fiber Academy workshops target youth/adolescents ages 8-17, but if they don't fit your schedule we also have weekly recurring beginner knitting classes.

Cancellation Policy: For all workshops, please communicate with instructors at classes@michiganfineyarns.com ahead of the date if you’re unable to attend or call the store. Please note that class workshops are non-refundable.

- Yarn + Class Materials: Students should start with a medium weight (worsted) yarn and size US 7-8 needles with 16" circular needles. We recommend starting with a lighter colored more durable yarn like Encore or Cascade 220 Superwash if you would like to start with a sampler scarf, or Universal Yarns Clean Cotton if you would like to start with a dishcloth. (Note: While you’re encouraged to bring your own hooks/notions, we request that yarn used in classes be purchased at MFY.)
