Can you wind my yarn for me?

Unfortunately as a small team, we are not always able to do this for our customers. However, we are more than happy to show you how to use our winder in-store!

Do you offer finishing services?

Yes, we can help you with finishing your project if you're stuck and we're more than happy to help. Our finishing services cost $20/hour.
The handmade garment you've put all those hours into just needs that last finishing touch. Whether it be piecing, seaming, buttonholes, blocking, weaving in ends, or repairs, our team is here to support you! Please email us at classes@michiganfineyarns.com for availability and an estimate. If you would like to learn how to finish garments yourself, then sign up with us for a BYOP class!

What is open table?

If the store is open, we have a table open for all fiber enthusiasts! Open Table is a community crafting space where participants can sit and be social and assist each other with questions. Our store staff will stop by the table and be social as time allows. All active WIPS are welcome, regardless of purchase point, though we’d love to see your projects made with yarn from MFY!

I just need some help on my project - what are my options?

We’re here to help you! We encourage you to call the store to see which staff are available to help you, or to reserve a time. We offer help in three forms: 1) As part of our 2-hour class (as a single drop-in class our in a bundle of four classes); 2) As part of our “Quick Help” service (30 minutes for $10, subject to instructor availability); and 3) Through private lessons ($40/ 1-hour session, subject to instructor availability).

What do classes cost?

Please review each individual class of interest for both drop-in and bundle class options. What materials do I need for my class? Please see the materials list available on your selected class webpage for a listing of needed class materials. We do request that your yarn be purchased at our store, and are happy to assist you in making your choices.

Do you offer drop-in classes?
-
Unfortunately, we do not have the staffing to support drop-in help. We request all customers to email us at classes@michiganfineyarns.com to schedule your class times upon purchase.

How do I reserve a class seat?
-
To reserve your class seat you must have paid for your class in advance. You may do this by purchasing the class in store or online and then emailing us at classes@michiganfineyarns.com to schedule, or by calling the store. Before you leave your class, be sure to schedule your next class with your instructor. Same-day drop-ins are at the discretion of the instructor. We are currently maintaining class sizes around 5 students per class - if your preferred class date/time is full, please let your instructor know if you would like to be put on the waitlist for that day/time.

How do I check in on the day of class?

Please arrive on time for class so we can maximize the time with our students. When you arrive at the store you can check in with the front desk and see which table your instructor is working from.

What if I need to cancel/reschedule my class?
-
Please communicate with your instructor as far in advance as possible - you can do this by emailing classes@michiganfineyarns.com or by calling the store. Note: Class purchases are good for two months from the date of purchase.
Please note, classes are non-refundable.
Beginner Class Packages: Instructors must be told at least 24 hours prior to class start time in order for the cancellation to not count against their package balance. Cancellations made within 24 hours on class packages will be deducted from your package and can't be reclaimed.
Workshop Cancellations: If you must cancel a workshop, please contact Customer Service at least 2 business days before the start of the workshop, unless you are cancelling due to illness or injury. If Michigan Fine Yarns needs to reschedule or cancel the workshop, students will be contacted regarding next steps on rescheduling.

Does my class package purchase expire?

Class package purchases are good for 60 days (2-months) from the date of purchase.

Can I get a refund for my class purchase?
-
Class payment is non-refundable unless the class is cancelled by Michigan Fine Yarns due to low enrollment. Please contact us at classes@michiganfineyarns.com for next steps.

Absolutely!! We love hearing from the community and do our best to put together programs, events, and classes that suit YOU!
