Acadia Trunk Show

We have a gorgeous samples from a number of different Fibre Co. collections. Two that we appreciate a bit extra are from the Zen Variations collection. Here is a description of the collection for The Fibre Co.'s website:

The Zen Variations collection of sweaters featuring The Fibre Co. Acadia yarn embraces the idea that knitting is a physical mediation. Each sweater begins in the same way with a top-down, set-in sleeve construction, and then develops with variations on the theme of Zen. Each pattern has a simple, clean design to showcase the rustic beauty of the yarn.

The two sweaters we have in shop are the Yama and Intoku. You can learn more about each of these garments below!

Intoku Sweater

Designed by Renée Callahan, the Intoku pullover features a deep v-neck and integrated pockets finished with a knit-as-you-go i-cord. Intoku is the Japanese word, meaning ‘good works performed in secret’.

Show in color Blue Heron.

The next sweater we are lucky enough to get our hands on is from the Foundations AW 19-20 Collection. Below is a brief description of the collection from The Fibre Co. and you can read more about the origin of the collection here.

Inspired by the comfort of craft, Foundations AW19/20 is designed to show you how we do “cosy” in the rural countryside. In this eight-piece collection, you will find vibrant colourwork, interesting yokes and simple but effective textures.

Wythop Sweater

Designed by Sari Nordlund, Wythop is a pretty twist on a traditional yoke sweater, featuring a rosebud bobble and lace stitch pattern. It is knitted seamlessly from the bottom up and features short row shaping at the neck for an improved fit. Acadia gives the garment beautiful depth of colour and texture as well as exceptional drape.

Shown in color Rosebay.

The following cowl would be ffun for knitters of any skill level, but might appeal to beginner knitters as a great project to try out working with more than one color.

In The Flow Cowl

Designed by Becky Baker, In The Flow is a generously sized cowl. It is knitted bottom-up in the round and consists of four stripe sections, with purl stitch rounds to create a gradient effect. This attractive four-colour cowl is a great gift idea, whether as a gift for yourself or for another, it is both perfect for beginners or as a yarn taster project to learn about the wonderful characteristics of Acadia.

Shown are colors Mountain Ash, Granite, Blueberry and Cranberry.

About the Yarn

Inspired by rugged rocky coastlines, Acadia is a rustic blend of fine Merino wool (providing warmth) and baby alpaca and silk noil (adding drape and lustre as well as an interesting knobby texture). The heathered appearance of this DK weight yarn is achieved from a kettle dyeing process that creates the subtle duotones for which The Fibre Co. has become known.
