Welcome to the Barnstable Shawl Knit Along (KAL)!

The Barnstable Shawl KAL is a celebration of Malabrigo's 20th anniversary and features a marvelous design by Lisa Hannes of Maliha Designs! The shawl combines two contrasting colors of Malabrigo Seis Cabos and beginner-friendly mosaic stitching to create an eye catching accessory!

Pattern

The pattern will be emailed to all registered participants as we near the cast on date of September 1st. If you want to get more information about the shawl, check out finished projects, or just get it on your queue, you can find the pattern on Ravelry.

Materials

You will need two skeins of a main color of Seis Cabos and one skein of a contrasting color for this project. The sample in the pattern was knit using Seis Cabos in special new anniversary colors Vicennial and Veinte. (We have ordered these colors and expect to receive them in time for this KAL!) The Malabrigo team does recommend high contrast or two bold colors to really highlight the mosaic stitch pattern in this design.

Want to put together your own color palette? We have lots of beautiful Seis Cabos in stock to choose from. Find the colors that speak to you and create a custom shawl that shows off your personality! Need help deciding? Our team loves to play with colors and would be happy to assist!

In addition to your yarn, you will need US 6 (4.0mm) and US 7 (4.5mm) circular needles with 40" cord to accommodate all of the stitches and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends. Gauge is not critical for a shawl, but if you are looking to have a similar sized wrap to the pattern, please note that you may need a different size needle to obtain the stated gauge.

How to Participate: To be eligible, simply complete the registration form above and share a photo of your project on social media using the hashtag #MalabrigoKAL. Please note: To qualify for prizes, your project must use the featured Malabrigo yarn for this KAL (Seis Cabos).

How winners are selected: Winners are chosen at random using a randomizing app from among the registered users. After that, our team verifies that all requirements have been met by checking the social media handles provided during sign-up. If a selected winner doesn’t meet the criteria, a new winner will be drawn until all spots are filled.

About the Designer

Lisa Hannes is the designer behind Maliha Designs. You may remember the name as Lisa worked with Malabrigo last year to develop the Old Rose colorway and three corresponding patterns - the Old Rose Hat, Old Rose Wrap and Old Rose Socks! 

First taught by her grandmother, Lisa has been knitting and designing for more than a decade and is known for her cozy shawls, texture, and mosaic colorwork. In addition to knitting, Lisa enjoys reading and listening to audiobooks or podcasts - which are a nice accompaniment to her knitting!
