2023 Mitten Marathon
We here at Michigan Fine Yarns have set a goal of collecting 300 pairs of mittens between October 1st and December 31st to support our neighbors through Mittens for Detroit. Donations can be mittens or gloves, and both handmade and quality, store bought items are welcome!

2023 Mitten Marathon Kickoff Event
We had an AMAZING day on Saturday, September 30th fas we kicked off our 2023 Mitten Marathon! Mittens for Detroit's Executive Director Wendy Shepherd was on site with us to share their mission, play some games and meet our amazing MFY Family. Each pair of mittens donated to Mittens for Detroit that day earned a raffle ticket into hourly drawings, and we offered free lessons on how to make mittens - both knit and crochet - so folks could continue to support and donate in the future!

Patterns for Handmade Mittens
The good folks at Mittens for Detroit have put together an entire webpage dedicated to handmade mittens, and while they even mention searching Ravelry for mitten patterns, they make the following suggestions for a knitting pattern and a crochet pattern. We also love Tin Can Knit's The World's Simplest Mittens pattern.
