Shorelines: Knits from Scottish Coasts by Rebecca Clow is a heartfelt tribute to Scotland’s windswept shores, charming harbour towns, and rich knitting traditions. Inspired by the rugged coastline and the quiet beauty of the open sea, this collection brings together 12 garments and 6 accessories designed to combine classic maritime style with practical warmth.
Drawing inspiration from traditional ganseys, shifting sea textures, and the designer’s treasured memories of Scottish coastal towns and sailing trips with her grandparents, the patterns offer a thoughtful blend of heritage and contemporary knitwear. From cozy wardrobe staples to versatile accessories, each design captures the feeling of crisp ocean breezes and misty seaside mornings.
With its timeless designs and strong sense of place, Shorelines is a wonderful addition to any knitting library. Whether you're drawn to traditional techniques or modern coastal style, this collection offers inspiring projects that celebrate the beauty of Scotland and the enduring appeal of handmade knitwear.
About the Designers: Rebecca Clow (@the.creabea) is an Edinburgh-based knitwear designer who became a beloved name in the knitting community following the release of her first sweater pattern, Cargill, in 2022. Having lived by the sea all her life, she draws inspiration from Scotland’s coastal landscapes, maritime traditions, and the memories she has made exploring harbour towns and sailing to remote isles with her grandparents.
When she isn't designing or knitting, Rebecca enjoys walking her dogs along the beach, reading fantasy novels, and drinking coffee. Shorelines: Knits from Scottish Coasts is her first knitting book, bringing her love of the sea and Scotland’s knitting heritage together in a collection of timeless designs.
