I am a beginner at knitting. So I am making baby blankets with the knit stitch. I love this yarn because it makes me think of little flowers. I just cast on 90 stitches and knit away using 3 skeins. I don’t know how to read a pattern, and would love to learn.Any advice?

Michigan Fine Yarns is a terrific recent discovery for me! I love the variety of yarns, the excellent1, communications, and the fast shipping speeds! The picture I've included in this review is a baby blanket made with Hayfield Blossom Chunky -- there is no published pattern -- just garter stitch with a k2, yo, knit across at the beginning of each row until diagonal desired width; Cast on 2 sts Row 1: k1, k1 incr -- 3 sts total Row 2: k2, k1 incr -- 4 sts total Row 3: k2, k1 incr, k1 -- 5 sts total Row 4 and all rows until diagonal width is reached: k1, k2 tog, yo, k2 tog, knit across at the beginning of each row. Shape will be square. For an oblong shape, once desired diagonal width is reached, to hold width steady, repeat *Row 1: k2, yo, knit across; Row 2: k1, k2 tog, yo, k2 tog, knit across* until ready to begin decrease rows. Decrease rows: *k1, k2 tog, yo, k2 tog, knit across* for every row until 5 sts remain. 5 sts remain row: k1, k2 tog, k2 -- 4 sts 4 sts remain row: k1, k2 tog, k1 -- 3 sts 3 sts remain row: k3 tog And that's all there is to it. I've found that a width of 150 sts is good for baby blankets -- for bigger projects, 200 sts will make a nice lapghan. For bigger yet sizes, just figure out gauge / sts required to meet gauge and then make the afghan as big as desired. **It's fine with me, Michigan Fine Yarns Folks, if you publish only part of what I've written here or if you publish all of it. It's also fine with me if you create a pattern from what I've described AND if you alter my wording as needed in the creation of such a pattern. No need to credit me.

First, I LOVE Hayfield's Baby Blossom chunky yarn -- I've used it for baby garments and blankets as well as for very cute slippers. The yarn is soft, doesn't pill, and is machine washable and dryable. As for Michigan Fine Yarns, I highly recommend this company. Their service is excellent and purchases arrive quickly. Beautiful Pattern! I love the pastel colors with the small blossoms. I would say the gauge of this yarn is about 4, so for me, it was perfect. There was just enough yarn to make a pillow cover (18”x18”). This is one of the best acrylic yarns I’ve purchased!
