Have you been dreaming about knitting a sweater but aren’t quite sure where to start? MFY Maker Studio: Sweaters (Online) is an online workshop designed to help you turn that idea into a sweater plan that feels like your own.
Over one hour, we’ll explore the building blocks of sweater knitting and help you make confident choices about construction, fit, pattern, and yarn. We’ll go over six common sweater construction methods and how each one influences the shape, fit, and overall look of a sweater: Set-in Sleeve; Drop Shoulder; Saddle Shoulder; Raglan; Circular Yoke; Dolman.
We’ll demonstrate how to take your measurements and help you understand how they translate to sizing and ease. From there, you’ll explore our curated collection of vetted sweater patterns and yarn options, with personalized guidance to help you find a combination that suits your style, skill level, and knitting goals.

Continued Knitting Support
Your workshop includes a one-on-one thirty minute virtual stitch session to use when you need personalized guidance, troubleshooting, or support as you knit your sweater. By the end of MFY Maker Studio: Sweaters (Online), you’ll have a sweater plan built around your measurements, your style, and your knitting goals—and the support to help you bring it to life. - Please note: Please reference our Class Policy or Help Center for more details on classes, or email classes@michiganfineyarns.com.
Cancellation Policy: For all workshops, please communicate with instructors at classes@michiganfineyarns.com ahead of the workshop date if you’re unable to attend.
- Craft: Knitting
- Prerequisites: Knit, purl, knitting in the round
- Homework: 1) Have a long sleeve top from home that you love the fit of; 2) a measuring tape; and 3) a list of your circular needles. During the workshop we'll walk you through making yarn selections based on your chosen pattern.
