The charted patterns in the Scrittori Stocking were inspired from early illuminated manuscripts created in medieval monasteries. During the Middle Ages, most people could not read. The Latin phrase pictura est laicorum literatura, meaning “the picture is the layman’s literature,” was coined by the monks to describe the importance of the visual image for the education of society.

The kit includes 2 50g hanks of Woolstok 1350 Red Rock (Main Color), 2 50g hanks of Woolstok 1303 Highland Fleece (Contrast Color 1), and 1 Woolstok Bundle Holiday Cheer with three 12-yard mini hanks each of 7 colors (1300 Cast Iron, 1302 Gravel Road, 1303 Highland Fleece, 1306 Wild Thyme, 1309 Earth Ivy, 1310 Cranberry Compote, 1315 Red Rock) for a total of 21 mini hanks per bundle(Contrast Colors 2-6).
