Make a Hat Day: September 15

The National Needlearts Association (TNNA) celebrates Make a Hat Day each September 15th as a way to bring the fiber arts community together, spark creativity, and jumpstart the season of making! We love this fun and engaging way to connect and get excited about the cooling temperatures!
How to Participate
It's easy to participate! Start by finding your favorite hat pattern, selecting from the suggestions we've curated below, or reviewing the list provided by TNNA. Let your creativity flow and be inspired by the work of these talented designers! Next, pick yarn that brings you joy! Finally, connect with other makers online by using the hashtags #makeahatday and/or #makeahatday2025 on social media to see all of the beautiful projects being made far and wide! Let folks know what pattern you chose, the yarn you used and if you can tag the designers, they'd love that too!

Yarn Suggestions
Hats can be made using a wide variety of fibers, yarn weights and textures. We like natural fibers for their warmth. Wool retains its shape making it a great hat option! Blends that include a touch of nylon will wear well, and it's always a good idea to think about washability so your hat can be worn often and maintained easily!
