Last Minute Mother's Day Ideas

Just in case you need one, consider this a friendly reminder that Mother’s Day is this Sunday! Luckily, we have some great ideas for last minute gifts. Whether mom is the crafter or you want to craft for her, here are some suggestions we think she’ll appreciate!

If your mother loves the fiber arts and you have a good idea of what she likes to make, consider getting her some yarn! With no strings attached (pun intended), she can decide what to make and whatever project she chooses will always remind her of you.

If you don’t feel as confident picking out something specific, look at pre-made kits or yarn bundles. The work of curating project and/or pattern has already been done for you, and mom will still have fond memories of you when she works with the materials!

If yarn doesn’t seem like the right choice, a new needle set or crochet hook would be a great treat for any maker! First, it’s hard to have “too many” tools, and second new tools are always fun to play with and try out! You never know; you may just pick out her new favorite hook.

If mom is particular about her tools or that just doesn’t feel right, notions are another practical gift that can also be so much fun! Whether it is bright and colorful stitch markers, an easy to access row counter, new scissors or a retractable tape measure, mom can easily toss these in a project bag for anything she’s working on.

Do all of these options sound intimidating? Stop by the shop or give us a call and we will be happy to help narrow down the options and find something special for your special lady! We also have Michigan Fine Yarns gift cards that would allow her to select her own goodies!

Wait, we mentioned ideas for moms that aren’t the crafty type! Never fear. Here are some knitting and crochet pattern ideas we think are manageable with minimal time and resources for you to make for her!

We know some mom’s claim they don’t want or need anything. We recommend getting around this by giving the gift of time! Make dinner or simply give mom a few hours of quiet time so she can knit, crochet, weave, embroider, take a nap, a bath or whatever she wants to do.

Finally, we know that not all moms are with us in person and this isn’t always the easiest holiday. We truly believe that the fiber arts have healing qualities, and hope that using these ideas to create something filled with memories of your mother can be a source of light and positivity for you.

Cheers to all our mothers and mother-figures!
