We are thrilled to host this trunk show and share these special yarns with you! Amble is a gorgeous fingering weight yarn made of wool, alpaca and recycled nylon, while Road to China Light is a pure luxury sport weight with its baby alpaca, camel, cashmere and silk blend. You should definitely read the following and stop by the shop to learn more about these yarns and squish the samples while they are on display!
Amble
We have a number of lovely samples from various Fibre Co. collections that highlight the Amble yarn. Two that we want to call extra attention to are from the The Almanac Series. Here is a snippet of the description of the collection from The Fibre Co.'s website:
Based on the original farmer’s Almanac guide to the seasons, this collection acts as a seasonal guide to knitting with The Fibre Co. and celebrates each month of the year with an ascribed Yarn of the Month, paired with a new design launch in that yarn.
The Almanac Series has a theme of herbalism to recognize the importance and heightened appreciation of maintaining health in these times. In the first half of the year’s series, we covered the 2021/22 Autumn Winter season, where each month’s yarn has been specifically chosen for its qualities to compliment colder conditions in the northern hemisphere.
The two pieces from this collection we have in shop are Mullein and Chamomile. You can learn more about each of these projects below!
Mullein is a long rectangular scarf featuring a gorgeous array of patterns and geometry. This project uses short rows in stripes, mixed with openwork lace and bobbles to create a wonderful project for the advanced beginner who would like to practice more advanced techniques or anyone wanting to add a statement scarf to their collection.

Chamomile Sweater
Chamomile by Vanessa Pellisa is a top-down stripy drop-shoulder pullover with neck gussets and the choice between two neckband options, folded or rolled. The pattern is written for both a long and short sleeve version making it both the perfect summer tee and a sweater for cool evenings.
Long sleeve version shown in colors Chalk Cliffs, Blackbeck and Catbells. Short sleeve version shown in colors Exodus, Wide Blue Yonder and White Heather.

About the Yarn
Amble is a fingering-weight yarn made from a blend of eco-friendly washable wool and alpaca for comfort as well as recycled nylon for strength. Although designed especially for sock knitting, this is a soft and durable yarn also great for easy-to-care-for sweaters and accessories.

- Fiber Content: 70% Easy-wash Merino Wool, 20% Easy-wash Alpaca, 10% recycled Nylon
- Weight: Fingering
- Needle Size: US 1.5 (2.5mm)

- Gauge: 32 sts per 4 in (10cm)
- Care: Machine wash on wool cycle or hand wash at 30C / 86F. Dry flat.

Road to China Light
The next piece we were lucky enough to get our hands on is from the Waves Collection. Below is a brief description of the collection from The Fibre Co. and you can read more about the full collection here. We love the idea of bringing fabulous indie designers together - the fiber community is so special!
We have a deep appreciation for indie designers here at The Fibre Co. and so we are honoured to introduce a collection that contains 6 patterns from 3 different designers known for their beautiful shawl designs. Melanie Berg, Helen Stewart and Hiroko Payne each create patterns that not only work beautifully as a finished object but are also a pleasure to knit. It feels so good to draw these women together and showcase all they do alongside one of our favourite yarn lines.
Kelso Shawl
The Kelso shawl by Helen Stewart takes its name from a charming Scottish border town which lies nestled in the confluence of the Tweed and Teviot rivers. Known for the romance of its ruined abbey, graceful bridges, and cobblestone streets, it is a place to lose yourself in time as you wander along the riverbanks.
Kelso captures the different textures of river and town, with wonderful three coloured stripes, flickering eyelets and simple lace. The pattern was designed to feature the distinct beauty of the Road to China Light yarn, bringing its complex saturated tones and gentle lustre centre stage. This elongated triangle shawl is knit from the top down with increases made at the edges.

For this Series, we looked to the heavens for inspiration. The beauty and grandeur of the night sky and awe-inspiring astronomical phenomena guided our creativity.
Milky Way Cowl
Designed by Bea Naretto, the Milky Way Cowl is a deep cone-shaped cowl with I-cord trim and a gradient of rich, jewel tones behind the bright points of the light main color, created with stranded colur work.
The sumptuous fibers in Road to China Light make this the softest yarn to wear against delicate neck skin, and the depth of the cowl allows you to really nestle into and feel surrounded by the luxurious softness.
Shown are colors Onyx, Blue Spinel, Blue Tourmaline and Sodalite.

About the Yarn
Road to China Light is inspired by the luxury textiles that were traded along the ancient Silk Road. This sport-weight yarn blends natural fawn baby alpaca, camel hair, cashmere, and silk to create a fabric with a soft halo and enough definition to explore subtle textures. With a colour palette inspired by polished precious stones, Road to China Light is a yarn for creating something truly special.
- Fiber Content: 65% Baby Alpaca, 15% Silk, 10% Camel, 10% Cashmere
- Weight: Sport
- Needle Size: US 3-4 (3.25-3.5mm)
- Skein Weight / Yardage: 50g / 159yds (145m)
- Gauge: 24-26 sts per 4 in (10cm)
- Care: Gently hand wash colors separately in cool water. We recommend alternating hanks as you work to give an overall blended appearance.
